Ugandan Pizza cooked on a frying pan – Recipe for Ugandan Street Pizza
The Ugandan street pizza is basically made with the same ingredients as the famous Rolex, which is a popular street food in Uganda. The Rolex is made of eggs and veggies wrapped in a chapati. What makes the Ugandan street pizza special is how it’s prepared, turning these usual ingredients into something totally different and super tasty.
To make this yummy dish, a chapati is cut into small pieces. These pieces are mixed with a variety of chopped veggies like green peppers and onions, along with some beaten eggs. The mixture is seasoned just right, creating a colorful and flavorful blend that looks and tastes great.
Cooking an Ugandan street pizza is pretty simple, but you need a little skill to get the texture and flavor just right. The mixture is poured into a hot frying pan, where it cooks for a few minutes. It’s important to keep the heat at the right level—not too high, so it doesn’t burn, and not too low, so it cooks evenly.
Once the bottom is set and turns a nice golden color, the pizza is flipped carefully. First, it’s flipped onto a plate, and then from the plate back into the pan to keep it from breaking apart.
What’s really cool about the Ugandan street pizza is how flexible it is. Just like regular pizza, you can add all sorts of toppings. Fresh slices of tomatoes, onions, or any veggies you like can be sprinkled on top before serving.
The pizza is a great alternative to the Rolex and Kikomando, if you want something different.
